Free Laptop Scam

There are many people that look at the Internet and free offers with at least a little bit of skepticism. They may wonder, how can somebody possibly give something away for free and do it consistently? In some cases, it is a good idea for you to view these offers with skepticism but in other cases, it is okay for you to go ahead and take advantage of what is offered. This is especially true when you are dealing with something that is expensive which is being given away, such as a laptop computer. How do you know if you’re dealing with a free laptop scam or if it is actually something that you can get for free?

Perhaps the first thing that needs to be understood is the fact that companies do give away items on the Internet all the time and they do so for very specific purposes. Although you are getting something for nothing, you are actually providing them with some very viable information that makes it worth what they are giving away. In the case of a laptop, you are not simply going to be able to go onto a website and request a laptop in order to receive it, much more is going to be needed. Don’t assume that just because they are giving away a laptop that means you are dealing with some type of free laptop scam. That is not always the case.

In most cases, you are going to encounter a screen which requires you to enter some very specific information, such as an email address or perhaps a zip code. This is only the start of the entire process and with each progressive screen you are going to need to provide them with additional information. It is that information that is of value to them and in some cases, they are going to be selling or at the very least, renting your information to businesses that may be of some interest to you, according to the information that you entered.

Understanding why it is that they are giving away a laptop or other expensive item can certainly let you know why it is important for you to follow through on the information that they are requesting. If they are simply giving away something such as a Tide Stick or perhaps a $20 gift card to Wal-Mart or Victoria’s Secret, not too much information is typically going to be requested. In the case of a free laptop, however, they are really going to want to get their money’s worth. It is very important for you to make sure that you follow through on the entire questionnaire and answer all the questions that are necessary. At the same time, you’re going to need to take advantage of any mandatory offers (usually free offers) that may also be requested.

Now that we’ve provided you with the information needed to recognize what is a legitimate laptop giveaway, it’s important to recognize some of the factors which could contribute to something being a free laptop scam. One of the most important things for you to consider, however, is the trustworthiness of the organization that is providing you with the offer. For example, I have links on this page which take you to offers for free laptops. Those offers are legitimate and they come from reputable sources. It would be necessary for you to trust me in order for you to actually trust the service that I was recommending. This can be difficult, particularly if you are unfamiliar with the person that is making the recommendation.

The best thing that you can do is to take advantage of as many free offers as is possible and you will quickly be able to determine which ones are legitimate and which ones might be a scam. Free laptop offers are also similar and although it may take you 30 minutes or perhaps a little longer to get through the entire process of filling out the form, it will be well worth it in the long run.

One other thing that you should realize is that if you are able to avoid the free laptop scam and find a legitimate offer, you are probably not going to receive something that is top-of-the-line. More than likely, they will specify the type of laptop that is being provided before you start to fill out the information. Have a close look at what is offered and read any of the fine print that may be included to make sure that you are not dealing with some type of scam.

One other thing that I would like to mention is that if you do fill out an offer for a free laptop, scam websites being avoided altogether, you are probably going to receive the product but you are not going to receive anything outside of the manufacturer’s warranty. Of course, it’s offered to you free of charge so really, there’s no sense in complaining about a lack of an extended warranty. Once you actually get a laptop or notebook in your hand, contact the manufacturer to see if there is anything that can be done to extend the warranty directly with the company. In that way, you will not only be getting something for free, you will be able to get something that will last you for quite some time.
